Knowledge of fundamental mathematical concepts.
Objectives
Obiettivi The course aims to illustrate the basic elements of statistical methodology and provide the basic tools for the investigation of tourism phenomena concerning both demand and supply sides.
Program

Statistical representation: frequency distributions. Graphical representation of statistical distributions. ii) Summary of distribution of a character. Position indices. Variability of the characters and their indices. Indices of shape. Concentration. iii) Analysis of the association between two characters: dependence, independence in distribution. Dependence / independence (on average). Correlation. iv) Index numbers. v) Probability: basic concepts and theorems. Random variables and probability distributions. vi) The simple linear regression model. Specification of the model. Estimation of regression coefficients (ordinary least squares estimator). Goodness of fit and coefficient of determination. II. THE OFFICIAL SOURCES OF STATISTICAL DATA: SOURCES ON TOURISM i) The tourism phenomenon: definition and statistical aspects. The statistical measurement of tourism: definitions and main problems. Touristic and non-touristic actions. Conceptual aspects (tourist, tourist activities, etc..). Economic activities related to tourism.
