Περιγραφή μαθήματος
The course offers a perspective on the historical developments of neuropsychology and a general discussion of cognitive functions and their alterations resulting from lesions or dysfunction of the central nervous system, examining the neuroanatomical and neurophysiological bases of the different functions and the main interpretative models. Particular attention will be paid to assessment tools, the approach to the patient and neuropsychological diagnosis.
Στόχοι
The aim of the course is to provide the most complete and up-to-date basis possible for the study of cognitive functions in clinical and research settings, for the critical interpretation of experimental data and for preparation for the neuropsychological evaluation of the patient. The neuropsychological models will be integrated with clinical studies and experimental data, with particular reference to anatomical and physiological aspects.
Πρόγραμμα
The course is divided into two macro areas. A part of the course will be dedicated to the historical and epistemological development of neuropsychology: the ideas on the mind-brain relationship over time and their reference models. From Antiquity, to the Middle Ages, to the Scientific Revolution, to the birth of Neuropsychology. The clinical part will be dedicated to the discussion of the different cognitive functions by analyzing the main neuropsychological models in the light of clinical and experimental data.
