Course description
The course introduces to the history of the artistic occurences of the 19th and the 20th Centuries, from Neoclassicism to Informal Art.
Prerequisites
It is necessary a good knowledge of Modern Art History.
Objectives
The course aims to provide an outline of the history of contemporary art, in Italy and abroad, in the 19th and the 20th Centuries, through the analysis of paintings and sculpture which are particularly significant.
Program
Artistic occurences of the 19th and 20th Centuries, from Neoclassicism to Informal Art: personality, currents, groups and avant-garde art scene in Italy, Europe and America.

The chapters on Painting and Sculpture in: G.Bertelli, G.Briganti, A.Giuliano, Storia dell’arte italiana, Electa-Bruno Mondadori (different editions), 19th and 20th Centuries Art; The volume A.Masi, Storia dell’Arte Italiana 1909-1942, Edimond, Città di Castello, 2007; Two booklet of your own choice from the series of publications “Art Dossier”, the first about an artist of 19th Century, the second about and artist of 20th Century (both to be agreed with the tutor).
Exercises
