Course description
The course develops the basic knowledge (level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) of Italian language through an online course, the consultation of some sites and texts.
Prerequisites
The course is designed for Beginners.
Objectives
General Objectives
After completion of the course you will be able
* to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type;
* to introduce yourself and others and to ask and answer questions about personal details such as where you live, people you know and things you have;
* to interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

Skills Development
After completion of the course you will have developed the following skills:
Receptive Skills
* Listening - You will be able to recognise familiar words and very basic phrases concerning yourself, your family and immediate concrete surroundings when people speak slowly and clearly.
* Reading - You will be able to understand familiar names, words and very simple job, for example on notices and posters or in catalogues.
Productive skills
* Speaking Interaction - You will be able to interact in a simple way provided the other person is prepared to repeat or rephrase things at a slower rate of speech and help you formulate what you are trying to say. You will be able to ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.
* Speaking Production - You will be able to interact in a simple way provided the other person is prepared to repeat or rephrase things at a slower rate of speech and help you formulate what you are trying to say. You will be able to ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.
* Writing - You will be able to write a short, simple postcard, for example sending holiday greetings. You will be able to fill in forms with personal details, for example entering your name, nationality and address on a hotel registration form.
