Master on “Water Awareness, Consciousness, Knowledge and Management” (Academic Year 2019/2020)

Fundamentals of Hydraulics and soil conservation

Credits: 8
Content language:English
Course description

This course covers topics in soil and water management and conservation activities and engineering solutions aimed at maintaining or enhancing the productive capacity of the land including soil, water and vegetation in areas prone to degradation. The most advanced practices concerning with prevention or reduction of soil erosion, conservation or drainage of water and maintenance or improvement of soil fertility are analyzed. A wide overview on water cycle and resources is given and broader issues in hydraulic risk are also covered.

Prerequisites

Student are expected to have a good, general background in hydraulics and soils. However, a knowledge of these subjects is not essential for understanding the lectures.
