On Thursday, Nov. 10 at 9 a.m., the journal "Mathematics" will hold its third free webinar entitled "Recent Advances on Approximation Theory." The event coordinator will be Prof. Clemente Cesarano, associate professor of Numerical Analysis at the Engineering Faculty of the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO.
Mathematics is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that provides advanced tools for mathematics-related studies and is published every six months in an online version by MDPI, a leading publisher of more than 390 open-access journals.
Also speaking during the webinar, which will be accessible to anyone, will be Praveen Agarwal, a professor at the Department of Mathematics at Anand International College of Engineering in Jaipur (India); Stefano De Marchi, a professor at the Tullio Levi-Civita Department in Padua, Italy; and Paolo Emilio Ricci, a professor at the "Luciano Modica" section of the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO. The opening and conclusion of the event will be handled by Prof. Clemente Cesarano.
The main theme of the webinar will be, in fact, approximation, which is not by chance the basis of all mathematical procedures, since exact solutions of problems in applied sciences are limited to a negligible number of cases. Real, non-rational numbers themselves can be conceived only by the possibility of assigning default and excess approximations to them, resulting in an estimated error.
