  • Today, at 6 p.m., the Digital Talk of the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO will present the new academic course of the Psychology Faculty: "Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology".

  • The debate, streamed live on UNINETTUNO portal and page on Facebook, will be moderated by Prof. Massimo Ammaniti and introduced by Prof. Maria Amata Garito, Rector of the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO and by Prof. Diego Centonze, Dean of the Psychology Faculty. Among the participants the professors of the Psychology Faculty: Prof. Olga Capirci, Prof. Luca Cerniglia and Prof. Tommaso Scandale.

Rome, the 6th September 2021 – Deepening the psychological problems that the use of technology entails for childhood and adolescence, providing students with an updated and in-depth training on the theoretical, clinical and methodological aspects of the psychology of developmental age. These are the main objectives of "Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology", the first course of its kind in Italy, organized this year by the UNINETTUNO University, conceptually updating the themes already dealt with in numerous university courses and reinventing them in an organic way in light of the consequences of Covid-19 on minors.

The new course will be presented by the Telematic University today, at 6 p.m., in live streaming on its portal  and on its page on Facebook. The event, moderated by Prof. Massimo Ammaniti, well-known psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, and introduced by the greetings of Prof. Maria Amata Garito, Rector of the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO, and Prof. Diego Centonze, Dean of the Psychology Faculty, will be attended by Prof. Olga Capirci, Prof. Luca Cerniglia and Prof. Tommaso Scandale.

"Childhood and adolescence represent two fundamental phases for the development of the person, in which the support of institutions and professionals in the field is essential to overcome any risks caused by technology and beyond: also for this reason we believe it is necessary to train psychologists who are prepared and competent both in the prevention of problems and in the therapeutic phase," said Prof. of the Faculty of Psychology and coordinator of the course Massimo Ammaniti. "The investments foreseen by the PNRR for young people are a first fundamental step and we hope that the attention of the institutions on the subject will grow more and more in the coming years" concluded Ammaniti.

The new course will give particular emphasis to the following areas: Psychology of typical and atypical development, emphasizing aspects related to family dynamics, the relationships of the child and adolescent with the peer group and the possible problems that may emerge in this context; the use of technology and social networks as a resource and potential risk for childhood and adolescence;  the evaluation through diagnostic systems and standardized tools, offering students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the theoretical and clinical use of tools; the intervention in the psychopathology of children and adolescents, including through the illustration and discussion of clinical vignettes and finally the intergenerational transmission of psychopathological risk from parent to child in an intersubjective and relational attitude.

In addition to Prof. Ammaniti, Prof. Pier Francesco Ferrari and Marco Pagani, professors of the course "Neurobiology of development", and Prof. Grazia Attili, professor of the course "Psychology of social and family relations", will be professors of the new degree course.
