Course description

The course on “Visual Storytelling” fits into the training path as a characterizing course aimed at the acquisition of the theoretical principles and basic tools to develop the skills that will be required to realize audiovisual products.

No prerequisites are required. 
Objectives

From advertising to cinema, from the new media to the TV series, contemporary cross-media communication relies on a more and more intensive relationship between word and image. The course will take into account the various formats of audiovisual stories (film, video clip, documentary, spot advertising etc.) and will identify the individual techniques in the purpose of outlining which methods and strategies can be implemented to create an effective audiovisual narrative product.

Program

The course will take into account the following issues:


Audiovisual formats; the creative and production roles; structuring a story through images; from concept to screenwriting; the sound-image relationship; editing, the digital realism; postproduction.

Exercises

All planned exercises (self-assessment tests, analysis of institutional campaigns, and discussion of case studies) will allow the student to apply the theoretical and practical tools analyzed during the lessons.
