5/15/2019

<< Back to Press Release

How will China’s “One Belt, One Road” infrastructural strategic plan affect the global economy’s scenario? And how the relationships with Italy, not only the economic ones, will change and will be strengthened thanks to the spreading of the latest technologies in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI)? During the new UNINETTUNO Digital Talk, entitled "The Digital Paths of the Silk Road – One Belt, One Road”, organized by the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO, that will be held on May the 15th, at 5 pm, at UNINETTUNO Multimedia Hall (Piazza Grazioli, 17) some experts and academicians will answer these and other questions.

In conjunction with the opening of the OBOR Exhibition, a big Chinese event devoted to the B2B, taking place at the Fiera di Roma from the 15th to the 18th May, in the framework of the activities of cooperation for the development of the “One Belt One Road” plan, UNINETTUNO analyzes this issue jointly with the following speakers: Maria Amata Garito, Rector of UNINETTUNO; Gianpiero Gamaleri, full professor of “Sociology of Cultural and Communication Processes” – UNINETTUNO; Louis Godart, full professor of “Aegean Civilizations” – UNINETTUNO and member of the “Academia dei Lincei”; Giada Messetti, a sinologist and television writer; Pietro Piccinetti, chief executive and director general of Fiera di Roma; Lucia Votano, research manager, former director of the Gran Sasso National Laboratories; Stefano Venza, Director of the Italian-Chinese Journal, “Cifnews International”.

The “New Silk Road” (One Belt, One Road) has already attracted the interest of the public opinion, even before the first visit to Italy of China’s President, Xi Ji Ping: from the development of transports and logistics infrastructures, the Chinese strategy aims at promoting their role in the global business relations, promoting international investments flows and commercial outlets for the Chinese productions in Eurasia, along the terrestrial roads of the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the “XXI Century Maritime Silk Road”, amounting to a capital asset of over 100 billion US dollars. The project entails a strong impulse to digitalization: actually, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Smart Cities are the main tools on which the investments plan Pekin’s Government points and that, according to estimates, may make of China the first digital superpower by 2030. Despite a widespread concern about this ambitious project, UNINETTUNO’s Digital Talk, supervised by Prof. Gianpiero Gamaleri, builds on a recent interview given by Jean-Claude Juncker, in which the President of the European Commission points out the potentials of the digital paths of the “Silk Road”, leading to rethinking to a new meeting between Europe and Asia as an “embrace” that enhances political, cultural and economic cooperation between the two Continents and that may find a new path for reciprocity in the Web and in the new technologies.

The event of the 15th May confirms UNINETTUNO’s engagement in finding occasions for reflection while offering clarifying cues on the changes that Digital Innovation brings about in our more a more globalized and interconnected society. The “Digital Talks” allow, as well, the participation and interaction of the audience, even at distance, from any place across the world: in fact, the event will be streamed live on the University’s FB account (https://www.facebook.com/uninettuno/) and on UNINETTUNO’s portal (https://www.uninettunouniversity.net/it/live-streaming.aspx).
