Descrizione dell'insegnamento

The course of Statistics and Business Statistics aims to provide students with the fundamentals of statistics methodology used in economic and business studies. The main contents of the courses are indicated below: descriptive statistics; probability; linear simple regression models; multiple regression models. The lessons include some application of statistical instrument to business and economic cases.

Prerequisiti

Knowledge of general mathematics concepts.

Scopi

The course provides a comprehensive view of the methods and tools essential in business for data management and analysis. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to interface with different business functions to get a cross-functional look at activities, without losing sight of the correct reading of data to support decision-making.Knowledge of general mathematics concepts.

Contenuti

Descriptive statistics: position and variability measures.

Probability and random variables.

Measures of association between variables.

Simple and multiple linear regression models: specification of the models. The Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimator. Inference in linear regression models.

Analysis of Variance (one-way ANoVA).

Chi-square test
